Monthly Competitions

Photo competitions are held on the first Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise announced on our Facebook page or the Club email. Any member in good standing is eligible to compete in any category. Members must have personally taken the images they enter. There is no limitation on the date an image was made.
Color and Black & White print category image sizes may be no more than 13" x19" An equivalent area is allowed for prints of a panoramic or square aspect ratio. The size of Artistic print entries is not restricted. Members may enter up to two entries in the Projected category and up to three in each print category per competition; but not more than six entries total in a competition.
Winning entries (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) are ineligible for future club competitions; and automatically eligible for a special annual Image of the Year for each of the four competing categories. Prints must be mounted; but cannot be framed. All entries must carry the members name, and that name must be on the back of prints to ensure anonymity.
The competitions include four categories (final determination of the proper category for an entry rests with the President, Second Vice President, and judge):
Digital Projection
Color Prints
Black & White Prints
Artistic Prints
20% of entries in each category are selected winners. Points to be awarded for each finishing place:
1st place: 5 points
2nd place: 3 points
3rd place: 2 points
Hon Mention: 1 point
First, Second and Third Place winners in monthly competitions compete against each other for annual awards including Image Of the Year. See the handbook for additional details on competition rules and requirements.
